The Ru58841 molecule, which is already available in pills and for topical use, has been studied since 1994. Regarding the results, they are promising, despite the absence of clinical studies, but it is unknown if it will have side effects. It is a promising molecule for the future, as its affinity for androgen receptors is three times that of testosterone. Thus, it is presented as an alternative to the classical therapeutic possibilities.

Finasteride is also a daily hair treatment. It comes in tablets and can only be prescribed by a registered doctor. It is prescribed for hair restoration in men and works by preventing testosterone from being converted into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), thereby preventing hair follicles from reducing their size and eventually disappearing. It is a long-term hair treatment that can take several months to work. It is a treatment that must always be used under medical supervision.
