Instructions on the application of the shampoo on the scalp
Dr. Panno recommends not applying too intense a massage to the scalp and, above all, the nails should not be used. The fingers, more precisely the fingertips or balls of the fingers, should be used, making gentle and circular movements throughout the head to help keep the roots properly clean.
Excessive rubbing of the scalp causes overstimulation of the sebaceous glands, thus generating greater production of oil, irritation of the scalp or alteration of its pH.
It is also not necessary to let the shampoo act on the head. The shampoo performs its function very quickly, and if it is left to act as a mask, it could even create a problem of hair dehydration.
It is also common to think that making a lot of lather means that our hair will wash better and, consequently, it will be cleaner.
However, this perception is wrong. A high amount of foam means a high presence of sulfates and other detergent agents, which are very aggressive for the hair fiber. Its intense action leaves the hair without its natural oil, which leads to the production of dandruff or more oil to compensate for the loss of its natural components.
