Post-hair transplant care during winter

Christmas is a perfect time to make an important change in your life, and a hair transplant can be that transformative step. If you have already undergone this procedure or are thinking about doing so, it is essential that you follow the appropriate care to ensure the best results. In this blog, we will give you the key tips to care for your hair transplant during winter, a season that offers advantages, but also certain challenges for your recovery.

Week 1: Care of the donor and recipient area

During the first week, the priority is to keep the treated areas clean and hydrated, with special attention to the donor and recipient areas.

  • Care of the donor area (first wash and during the first week):
    • First wash: The first thing you should do is mix warm water with the shampoo recommended by your clinic. Gently apply it to the donor area without rubbing. Use delicate movements and avoid applying pressure. Rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove the shampoo completely.
    • Cream application: After washing and patting dry (using a clean, soft towel), apply the recommended cream to the donor area to keep the skin moisturized.
  • Recipient area care (during the first week):
    • Use of sprays: Apply the thermal water spray and the spray provided by the clinic to the recipient area only. Remember to alternate application every 20-30 minutes to keep the area moisturized and protected. This is crucial to avoid dehydration, which can slow down the healing process.

Week 2: Recipient area care (start of washing)

When you reach the second week, you can begin washing the recipient area in more detail.

  • Washing the recipient area:
    • Mix warm water with the special shampoo provided by the clinic and gently apply it to the recipient area. Wash with very gentle, circular movements, without rubbing or pressing too hard.
  • Removing scabs:
    • During washing, use gentle, circular movements to help remove scabs. The more water you use, the wetter the scabs will be, making them easier to come off.
    • Important: Do not try to remove scabs if they do not come off easily.

They are part of the healing process, and they usually fall off naturally during the first few days of the second week.

Additional recommendations:

  • Always use the products recommended by your clinic, as they are specifically formulated to promote the recovery of your hair graft.
  • Keep both the donor and recipient areas clean. It is essential that you follow the instructions of the medical staff when cleaning and caring for the treated areas.
  • If you have any questions or feel discomfort, do not hesitate to consult directly with your clinic. Constant communication with professionals guarantees a proper recovery.

By following these precautions, you will ensure a smooth recovery and, when the new year arrives, you will be able to enjoy a completely renewed image. Start 2025 with more confidence and spectacular hair. Consult Dr. Panno by calling 667 67 97 89 and find out if he is the option for you!
