What is Ketoconazole?

Ketoconazole, a drug to fight alopecia Ketoconazole is a drug that, today, is part of a list of effective products to combat alopecia. Although this medication is originally used to treat mycosis, pityriasis versicolor, seborrheic dermatitis or as a mild antiandrogenic inhibitor, ketoconazole has also been found to have positive effects in the fight against androgenetic alopecia.

Despite the few studies or tests to evaluate the impact of ketoconazole on the baldness process, they are mostly favorable to the effectiveness of this. As for their results, these can be seen after six months and an improvement in hair density, thickness and hair growth rate can be seen. Although it exists in different formats, the most recommended for the treatment against baldness is the 2% shampoo format. Other effective treatments for hair regeneration At the Dr. Panno Hair Transplant Clinic, the first clinic in Spain devoted exclusively to hair transplantation, we offer our patients a wide range of regenerative treatments for adequate capillary recovery, without the need for surgery and with the aim of anticipating a more widespread alopecia or the achievement of a hair with more volume and brightness, among other things.

One of these therapies is minoxidil, one of the most common drugs to stop hair loss. Minoxidil acts mainly in the blood system, stimulating the levels of nitric oxide in the bloodstream. The result of the use of minoxidil is the thickening of the hair follicles, in the necessary or desired areas due to their topical use, and the revitalization of the processes that occur in the hair root. Minoxidil and ketoconazole are complementary methods, since the relief and protection provided by ketoconazole can be very helpful for the stimulatory functions of minoxidil.
