Is it necessary to shave the entire head for hair surgery?
Regardless of the technique used, whether it is FUE or FUSS, it is not necessary to completely shave the head. A variable width band in the central part of the donor area will suffice. This area will not be visible once the intervention is finished because it will be done so that the rest of the hair covers the area from where the necessary follicular units have been extracted.
You could only notice a slight lack of density caused by the subsequent shaving, which will be supplied once the length of the hair has been equalised.
In the event that a number of follicular units are required for which a greater extension of the donor area is required, there is always the possibility of performing the surgery in two different periods, thus shaving small concealed areas.
Do you notice the transplant after surgery? How will my hair look after the intervention?
The postoperative aspect may be more or less concealed depending on the area that has been implanted, if it is a new area, or if it is an increase in density. The immediate postoperative phase is the most complex at the image level, since the grafts cannot be touched until one week after the intervention. Once this period has elapsed, it will not be noticeable.
Can I use hair cosmetics (dyes, highlights, masks, etc.) before surgery? And then?
Before surgery there would be no problem. After surgery for up to a month, dyes, discolorations, highlights, etc. could not be used. And in both cases, it would be recommended that the products be as natural and less abrasive as possible.
When do I notice the results?
The results of any hair intervention begin to be appreciable from the fourth postoperative month, being considered completed until one and a half years after surgery.
How to hide it?
To reduce these aesthetic effects after surgery for female alopecia, both in the donor area and in the area to be implanted, we recommend leaving the hair as long as possible until the day of the intervention, to ensure that it can be well covered with the patient’s own hair. Extensions could also be used for the donor area or natural hair fibers on the area to be repopulated, two weeks after surgery, which will help us to hide until the long-awaited result arrives.
